West Beach, Hayling is a privately owned beach. In the early days of kitesurfing at Hayling a number of incidents involving other beach users and kites cartwheeling across the golf course quickly damaged the sport's image. The beach owner and council were clearly worried about their liabilities, and the threat of a bye law banning kitesurfing loomed. This threat was fought successfully, and thanks to a licensed agreement with the golf club and professional beach management facilities kitesurfing and kitesurfing tuition is now permitted conditionally.
The RNLI have produced a short film about kitesurfing, featuring Chris Bull and the CBK school and mostly filmed at Hayling. It shows the fabulous conditions we have here for learning safely.
